Busy Week and Choices ahead

Work has just been mental this week, two of the three of us Regional Organisers are on leave, so I'm the only one left! This consequently means I am trying to do the work of all three with just no time!

Before I went to Inverness last Wednesday my doctors receptionist called, and said that they would like me in for an appointment. This of course scared me a little, and there were a few tears on Sunday night with G before bed. It's actually fairly positive news though, in that, since our fertility appointment, the doctors have referred me to the hospital to see a weight loss specialist. Since then the department have written back asking for further information.

After a fairly tearful conversation with our lovely doctor, she has asked me to have more blood tests, and to now await an appointment regarding possible weight loss surgery. It's alot to consider, big changes, but maybe this is the way that we will be able to have our family...biologically or adopted. Time will tell.

Nice Things

My husband has surprised me a few times this weekend. Yesterday after he finished work he went to have a hair cut and visit his brother. As usual, when he got home, I fed and watered him and asked him about his day. How was your brother? Did you talk about anything exciting? etc etc... Like children do, my husband always answers no, until later, tummy full he starts getting chatty!

Turns out he discussed adoption with his brother, asking him if he would ever do it. This is a HUGE step for us. It's showing me that he is properly thinking that this is the way of the future for us. His brother said no that he wouldn't, which isnt surprising given he has 3 children, and I'm pretty certain, doesn't want anymore. G and I talked about this and also how it's also not surprising as given the facts that black/ethnic minorities in britain are less likely to choose adoption than white families.

G surprised me further by then commenting how his brother had said that he wasn't sure he could love someone who had not come from him. Before I could comment, he said to me, "well that was how I used to think" The key words here being used to....

Now if you add this to the fact that my handsome hubby has asked me out for dinner and a movie of my choice, you can see why I am so surprised this weekend!!!!

Had a nice trip??

The weather in the UK over the last few weeks has been dire! The snow whilst beautiful to look at, has been pretty scary in places.

On Tuesday at one of my offices, I managed to do the splits on the slope on the way down from the car park! Nice eh! Luckily for me, no one saw as I landed on one knee, grabbing the rail and ripping my thumb backwards. I just had the humilation of walking into my meeting soaking wet, shoes, trousers, jumper, covered in grit and sludge, and had to sit there shoeless in my stripey socks!

The next day my inner thighs felt like I'd done a good few rounds of the gym!

And then on Thursday evening, in a different work car park, this time under cover, I tripped on a join in the concrete floor, and managed to fly. This time I landed flat on both knees, on my hands and my left elbow. And this time the added humilation of doing it in front of my boss!!!!!

I wanted to cry. I sat there on the floor thinking I dont think I could get up, cramp twinging in the back of my leg, the burning pain of my knees and my hands killing me. Eventually I sent my boss off into a corner to look the other way while I lumbered up. Luckily my secretary took charge back in the office and washed my cut hands and arms and generally made me feel better.

Today my knees are still swollen, and my elbow is particularly black! Funnily enough my armpits even hurt!!

I'm a bit scared to go out now!!!

The Chinese Adoption Effect Entertainment & Culture: vanityfair.com

Found this article quite by accident and found it to be intensely moving after reading some lovely books and blogs on international adoption. Just thought others may like it.

William and his bunny

Baby William is still tucked up in Inverness hospital, although mummy
has been discharged. He's doing very well, just too lazy to eat! He
falls asleep halfway through his feed and the nurses can't make him
take more! He has to have the rest via tube, until he puts on enough
weight!

Sweet dreams little bunny xxxx

Two Beauties

Before the snow came along, my brother had booked tickets to take Scarlett ice skating with his wife, and their friends today. I was due to stand on the side with Amelie and cheer them on! Given the snow and ice, I suggested that Amelie come to our house to play instead...

We started off the morning really well with lots of gurgling and smiling!! She has changed so much facially in the last few weeks.  It was lovely to get her all to myself for a change. G was still in bed at this point!

After a bottle and a burb or two, and a cuddle with her Uncle G, well more like him saying give her here, when she was wailing,  bum changed and a good old kick of the legs, she had a lovely long nap... a good hour and 45 minutes wrapped up snug in her basket...

And so did her Uncle G...... what a pair of little beauties!
